MY TARRANT ANCESTORS

These are my direct ancestors from the TARRANT line.  The TARRANTS are a very well researched family and I have more information on many people below including dates, etc, so let me know if you would like more info.  Also, please let me know if we have common ancestors so maybe you can help me fill in some blanks!

Leonard TARRANT's first wife's name is unknown, the children listed below are all assumed to be this first Mrs. TARRANT's.  Leonard married Mrs. Mary HARGROVE ca 1771 (bond date) in Amherst Co, VA.  He received credit for Personal Service to the Revolutionary War effort through his supplying 375 lbs of beef for the troops for the Battle of Guilford Courthouse.  He died in Greenville Co, SC. ca 1791 after moving there by 1787 along with his sons John, Reuben, James, and Benjamin

Leonard TARRANT and his first wife had 8 children:

4)  Samuel (aft 1732)
5)  Nelly md Mr. DANIEL

7)  Reuben (1743)
8)  John (ca 1742) md Tabitha TANKERSLY

Leonard TARRANT Jr and his wife Mary (TANKERSLY) lived in VA.  Leonard died in 1777 in Henry Co, VA.  They had 6 children:

1)  Larkin (ca 1756) md Mary COUCHER
2)  Reuben (1763)
3)  Carter md Catherine 
4)  Winifred md Daniel MCKENZIE
5)  Terry (ca 1772) md  1) Ann STEPHENSON 2) Mary PATRICK
6)  Rachel (ca 1772) md Robert BOLLING

The families of Larkin TARRANT, Rachel (TARRANT) BOLLING, along with their grandfather Leonard Sr. also settled in Greenville Co, SC.

Larkin and Mary (COUCHER) TARRANT were in Greenville Co, SC when he died in 1804.  Mary remarried to Obadiah WOOD.  Larkin and Mary raised 8 children:

4)  Stella "Neally" (1794) md Edmund WOOD
5)  Henry M (1800/1810)

At least 6 of the above children and their families moved to Alabama ca 1819.
Some remained in Birmingham area while Martha and her husband William WILSON settled in Talladega Co, AL , which is where my line continues.
